Hello, I am Bennet Hattesen, nicknamed Teufelchen. I like a lot of things. For example cows, computers and coffee. I work with
constrained systems and low power networks using RIOT OS, trying to build an interoperable world based on common standards.
- Computer systems that are not controlled by their users disturb me. Software freedom is important to me.
- I expect systems to be secure and safe by default otherwise they are just bad engineering.
- Most software I touch is written in C and Rust. Occasionally Python.
- RISC-V is cool (although David Chisnall taught me that it does have flaws) and I build a functioning emulator for it that can run RIOT.
- I played a lot of Pokemon Gen 1 - 4 (Soul Silver is the best, Abra the cutest).
- Internal combustion and steam engines are bad but really cool to look at if you ask me!
- The Murderbot Diaries, by Martha Wells, are the best books I have ever read. By a long shot. I love them so so much. "Miki, your poor hand!"
- Anti-fascism is not optional.
- I like trains.
- Electronic Music is the best, check out Daft Punk or Slagsmålsklubben.
- Baking bread is cool.
- I struggle with getting shit done and concentration. Sometimes my executive dysfunction is stronger than me.
- Hiking is nice. So are scouts: Gut Pfad dem Stamm Goten!
- Jellyfish are awesome.
- Arch Linux rocks.
- Billionairs should be taxed so hard there will be no billionairs left to tax.
- Repairing machines is a source of joy.
- Growing houseplants is fun.
- In germany, I am legally allowed to call myself "Ingenieur" and "Elektrofachkraft (EFK)". Cringe.
- My wife is cooler than you: She once found 1277 bugs.
- You should try ZFS.
- Lemons taste delicious.
- I repaired a dishwasher once.
- Infrastructure and civil engineering are cool.
- Cookies make life better. Especially with chocolate.
